I had to get up early this morning, so I could make it to West Point, MS before the air turbulence began. Flight Service predicted that by 11:00 am there would be strong winds aloft and turbulence at my destination. But if I got there before then, it would be relatively calm.
My job was to photograph the newest exclusive golf course in Mississippi: Mossy Oaks Golf Club in West Point, MS. It is located right next to another famous course. And my client is super nice, so I really want to make him happy.
Circling, circling, circling over a golf course -- shooting straight down on the greens -- trying to make out which green goes where. You definitely want some relatively calm air for the airplane, or you will get beat up, or nauseous: Neither is pleasant.
Anyway, I left the house around 6:00 AM to pick up my pilot/friend and we were pre-flighted and in the air before 8:00 am. The morning moisture was still rising up off all the rivers, lakes and waterways. A truly beautiful sight!
Just one more reason I love what I do! Only a few of us get the privilege of seeing this beauty!
